Key Word : Inside Outside Circle Model, Speaking Achievement
The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of inside outside circle model in teaching Descriptive text gives positive effect on students’ speaking achievement. Inside-Outside Circle is a technique in which students move around and interact with each other. It can be used as a cooperative strategy and a summarizing strategy.
Based on the theoretical background, the research hypothesis is drawn as follows: There is a positive effect to the students’ speaking achievement who are taught by the use of inside outside circle model in teaching Descriptive to improve students’ speaking chievement of tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 slawi in the academic year 2014/2015.
This is an experimental research. In conducting the research, the researcher uses two group design. Population of this research is 380 students. The researcher uses cluster random sampling technique to take the sample of research. The total number of sample is 40 students. 20 students are taken as experimental group who are taught by implementing inside outside circle model, whereas 20 others are taken as control group who are taught without implementing inside outside circle model.
To check the effect of students’ speaking achievement, the researcher uses a test as the instrument of the research. The type of the test is role of speaking. Test is used to know the improvement in students’ speaking achievement after they are taught by implementing inside outside circle model.
It is obtained from the data description that the mean of experimental group is (80.25), and control group is (75). The researcher uses t-test to know the differences between two groups. From the data, the score of the t-table is at 5 % level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) 2.021, while the t-ratio is 3.777 So, t-ratio (t0) is higher than t-table (3.777 > 2.021). Based on this the calculation, hypothesis null is rejected, and hypothesis alternative is accepted. It means, that is there a positive effect to the students’ speaking achievement who are taught by using inside outside circle model.
