THE EFFECT OF TEXT TWIST GAME TOWARDS STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Research on the Tenth Grade Students of SMK Ma’arif NU 01 Wanasari in the Academic Year of 2014/2015)

The study is about Text Twist game as a learning technique on students’ vocabulary achievement. The objective of this thesis is to find out the positive effect of using Text Twist game technique towards students’ vocabulary achievement.
Based on the theory, the research hypothesis is drawn as follows: Text Twist game gives positive effect towards students’ vocabulary achievement on the tenth grade students of SMK Ma’arif NU 01 Wanasari.
The population of this research is the tenth grade students at SMK Ma’arif NU 01 Wanasari in the second semester of the academic year of 2014/2015. The samples of the research are 60 students who are divided into two groups. The first group is experimental group which consist of 30 students and the second group is the control group which also consist of 30 students. Then, which consist of 30 students as a try out group. The two groups are taught by using the same material but different technique of teaching. The experimental group is the students who are taught by using Text Twist game and the control group is the students who are taught without using Text Twist game. Then both of them were given the same test.
The writer used a test as the instrument of the research. The data of the research is obtained from a vocabulary test consist of 30 items. The test takes 60 minutes to do. The type of test is multiple choice tests with four options A, B, C, and D, to find out the result of validity and reliability from the instrument.
Afterwards, the data is tested by t-test formula. The t-table score at 5% level in significance and on the degree of 58 is 1, 645. The t-test is higher than t-table (3,970 > 1,645). According to this calculation, hypothesis is accepted. It could be concluded that the application of Text Twist game gives positive influence on students’ vocabulary achievement. As suggestion, the teacher can modify Text Twist game manually to teach vocabulary if there is no computer or projector in the class.
