THE EFFECT OF USING CHAIN STORY TECHNIQUE TOWARD WRITING ACHIEVEMENT OF THE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (An Experimental Research of the Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 1 Lebaksiu in the Academic Year 2014/2015)
Key words: Chain Story Technique, Students’ Writing Achievement.
The objective of this research is to find out the positive effect of the implementation of giving Chain Story technique toward students’ writing achievement. The writer uses Chain Story technique because this technique is expected to increase students’ writing achievement.
Based on the theory, the research hypothesis is drawn by the writer as follows: There is positive effect of using Chain Story Technique toward writing achievement of the seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Lebaksiu in the academic year 2014/2015.
This research is an experimental research by using two-group designs. The population of this research is all of the seventh grade students of SMPN 1 Lebaksiu in the Academic Year 2014/2015. The total number of the population is 319 students. The researcher uses cluster random sampling technique to choose the sample of the research. The sample consists of two group; the experimental group (VII E) and control group (VII D). The number of the sample is 60 students. The researcher uses post test as the instrument of the research. It takes 40 minutes to do the test. The type of the test is writing test.
Based on the data analysis, the t-test is 2,5930 with the degree freedom 58 of the significance level of 5%, the t-table is 1,645. The computation shows that t-test is higher than t-table (2,5930>1,645). It means that hypothesis of the research is accepted.
The conclusion is that there is positive effect of using Chain Story technique in Students`s Writing Achievement of the Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 1 Lebaksiu. This thesis is recommended to be read by teachers and students.
