TEACHING READING TO JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ THROUGH SYNTHESIZING TECHNIQUE (An Experimental Research to the Seventh Graders of SMP N 2 Pangkah in the Academic Year of 2014/2015)

Students get difficult to understand in reading comprehension. They are difficult to understand content of the text, spelling, pronunciation and limit vocabulary. Hence, the researcher use synthesizing technique to increase students’ ability in reading comprehension, it can solve the problem of the students and it is effective to reading comprehension.
This research, the researcher discuss about: (1)How is the implementation Synthesizing Technique in learning process reading to students at the seventh graders of SMP N 2 Pangkah, (2)Is Synthesizing Technique effective to teach reading to students at the seventh graders of SMP N 2 Pangkah, (3)How effective is the implementations of Synthesizing Technique to teach reading at the seventh graders of SMP N 2 Pangkah, (4)Is there any significant difference in reading between the students who are taught using of synthesizing technique and those who are not, (5)What are the student responses on the implementation of teaching reading on using synthesizing technique.
This research use two-group design that experimental group and control group. The experimental group is taught by using synthesizing technique, and control group is not taught by using synthesizing technique. The researcher gives a test twice, pre-test and post-test to get data. The researcher use reading test as the instrument of the research. The test needs 1 x 60 minutes to do. The type of the test is multiple choices with 4 options A, B, C and D and the content about descriptive text.
The data is tested as the instrument by t-test formula. P value is lower than 0.05 (0.000<0.05) it can be concluded that is significant difference between experimental and control group. Synthesizing technique used descriptive text is about how to synthesize word by word to make a paragraph. Using synthesizing technique is effective to teach reading. The t-test is higher than t-table (8.212>2.045). It means that using synthesizing technique is effective in teaching reading. There is significant between students who were taught by synthesizing technique those were not taught by synthesizing technique.
The conclusion, because the implementation of synthesizing technique is effective to teach reading comprehension to the seventh grade at SMP N 2 Pangkah in the academic year 2014/2015, so the teacher can apply the synthesizing technique in teaching reading.
