THE IMPLEMENTATION OF TEAMWORK TOWARD STUDENTS’ READING ABILITY

There are many reason why the writer chooses this research. Practically, students’ can not learn without read, but most of the students have some difficult in reading. Practically, most of students lack of vocabulary, feel difficult to mention words, and couldn’t catch the idea from the passage. Therefore, the writer should apply appropriate technique to teaching reading, namely Teamwork. The research was conducted with some research questions: (1). How is the implementation of teamwork in teaching English reading to Junior High School students. (2). Is the implementation of Teamwork effective to teach reading a narrative text. (3). How effective is the implementation of Teamwork in teaching English to Junior High School students. (4). Is there any significant difference between the students who are taught by using of Teamwork and those who are not. The Research is done by classifying sample into two groups. They are the Experiment Group and Control Group. The sample is taken by using cluster random sampling. They are divided into two groups, group one is experiment group teamwork that consists of 32 students who are taught by implementation teamwork and group two is control group that consist of 32 students who are taught without implementation teamwork. The sample is given a test containing 50 questions. The writer uses multiple choices as the instrument to know validity and reliability of the instrument. The writer gives a try out test for students who having the same competence with the sample. Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test. Based on the result with the degree of freedom (d.f) 62 on the level significant of 5% is 1.669 it shows that t-test is higher than t-table (4.729 > 1.669). It means that there is significant different between experimental group and control group. From the result data analysis, the writer concludes that implementation teamwork gives possitive effect and there are significant different in teaching reading ability to the second grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Pemalang in Academic year of 2014/2015. The writer suggest that the English teacher should be able to give motivation and encourage students in reading activity by using interesting technique such as Teamwork so that students are not bored and interested in learning process. However, this can support students’ motivation to learn.
