USING BUZZ GROUPS TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING WRITING (An Experimental Research to the Second Graders of SMA Negeri 1 Kramat in the Academic Year of2015-2016)

In writing activity, many students faced some problems in writing. They found difficulties in developing ideas. Therefore, the writer usesBuzz Groups Technique in teaching writing. Buzz Groups Technique is a large group which is divided into 2 until 8 smaller group and the small group is asked to report their discussion by a large group. Set of the seat is circle or face to face in order to facilitate students to convey their ideas in group discussion. Furthermore, Buzz Group can assist students in specifying the idea will be developed into a paragraph, particularly in analytical exposition text.
The objectives of this research are (1) To measure whether or not using Buzz Group is effective in students’ writing achievement (2) To measure how effective Buzz Group is in students’ writing achievement (3) To find out whether or not there is significant difference between students who taught by Buzz Group Technique an students who are not taught by Buzz Group Technique.
This study used two groups design. The writer applies two types of tests; the pre-test and post-test. Population of this study is the second graders of SMAN 1 Kramat in the academic year 2015/2016. The total population is 282 students whis is divided into 9 classes. The sampling technique used random sampling techniques. The samples of this research is 64 students; 32 students as the experimental group and 32 other students as the control group.
Based on data analysis, there are three findings that the writer found. The first finding showed that the Buzz Group is effective technique in teaching writing. It can be seen from P value < α 0.05. It means that the effective application of the Buzz Group Technique in teaching writing. The second finding described that the level of the effectiveness of Buzz Group Technique is moderate. Furthermore, there is a difference in the students taught using Buzz Groups Technique and students are not taught to use Buzz Groups Technique. It can be seen from P value< α 0.05. In conclusion Buzz Groups Technique is effective in teaching writing. By using this technique, students generate ideas that will be developed in the paragraph.
