THE EFFECT OF USING REDW ( READ, EXAMINE, DECIDE, WRITE) STRATEGY TOWARDS STUDENTS READING COMPREHENSION (An Experimental Research to the Tenth Grade of MAN Kota Tegal in the Academic Year of 2015/2016)

The objective of this research is to find out The Effect of Using REDW (Read, Examine, Decide, Write) Strategy towards Students Reading Comprehension. (An Experimental Study at tenth grade of MAN Kota Tegal in Academic Year 2015/ 2016.
The writer uses test as the research instrument. The test contains 40 test items which should be done in 90 minutes to do. The test type is multiple choice with four options; A, B, C, D and E for each item. The data is divided into two parts. The first part is the data from the experimental group, and the second part is the data from the control group. There are tenth classes of tenth grade students of MAN Kota Tegal but the writer only takes 2 classes as the sample of the research, 30 students as the experimental group who are taught by using REDW strategy and 30 students as the control group who are taught without using REDW strategy.
Based on the data analysis, the t-test is 2,769. With the degree of freedom (df) = 30+30-2= 58 and the level significance (α) = 5%, the t-table 1,645 (look on the t-table data on appendix). The writer finds out that t-test is higher than t-table, the writer can conclude that null hypothesis is refused and the research hipothesis is accepted.
The conclusion is by using REDW strategy is effective in teaching reading at the tenth grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Kota Tegal.
The writer suggests that the teacher needs to use REDW strategy because REDW strategy is easy to be implemented and learned. The strategy is able to amuse and interact the students and also it can be used to improve reading comprehension.
