THE EFFECT OF APPLYING THINK TALK WRITE (TTW) STRATEGY ON THE WRITING ACHIEVEMENT OF THE FIRST GRADE STUDENTS OF VOCATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

The objective of this research project is to find out the effect of Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy towards students’ writing achievement. Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy is a strategy which basically built through thinking with the activity of reading, speaking to share thought with the activity of read aloud or making statements, and writing as a visualization of comprehending the materials.
The research hypothesis is the use of Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy gives positive effect towards the students’ writing achievement. Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy is applied to the first grade students of Vocational High School Ma’arif NU 01 Suradadi in the academic year 2015/2016.
In this research, the population is all the second grade students of Vocational High School Ma’arif NU 01 Suradadi, which are totally 120 students. The writer uses cluster random sampling with two group design (experimental group and control group). The total sample is 56 students, 28 students is as experimental group and 28 students is as control group. The experimental group is the group of students who are taught using Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy. The control group is the group of students who are taught without using Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy. After teaching for nine meetings, the writer gives a post-test in form of achievement test to experimental and control group.
The writer analyses the data by using t-test, the score of t-test is 4,6159. While the score of t-table at 5% level significance is 1,645. Thus, t-test is higher than t-table (4,6159 > 1,645). According to result of data, hypothesis t-test is accepted. It means that the application of Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy gives a positive effect on the writing achievement of the First Grade Student of Vocational High School Ma’arif NU 01 Suradadi in Academic Year 2015/2016. Then, the writer suggests to the English teachers to use Think Talk Write (TTW) Strategy to teach writing skill.
