In this research hypothesis is the use Jeopardy Game gives positive effect toward students’ reading achievement in recount text and narrative text. Jeopardy Game is applied to eight grade students of SMP N 3 Adiwerna in the academic year 2016/2017.
In this research, the population is all of eight grade students in SMP N 3 Adiwerna which is totally 270 students. The writer used cluster random sampling with two group design (experiment group and control group). The totally sample is 60 students, which 30 students is as experiment group and 30 students is as control group. The experiment group is the group who are taught by using Jeopardy Game. The control group is the group of students who are taught without using Jeopardy game. After teaching for seven meetings, the writer gives a written test to experiment group and control group.
The data was analyzed by using t-test, score of t-test is 4.545. While score of t-table is at 5% level significances and on the degree of freedom 58 is 2.002. Thus, t-test is higher than t-table (4.545 > 2.002). According to result of data, hypothesis t-test is rejected, and hypothesis t-table is accepted. It means there is a positive effect towards students’ ability in reading achievement between student who are taught by using Jeopardy Game and those who are not taught by using Jeopardy Game at the eight grade students of SMP N 3 Adiwerna. According to the analysis, Jeopardy Game gives positive effect toward students’ reading achievement. Then, the writer suggest to the English teachers use Jeopardy Game to improve students’ reading achievement.
