Research Project. Strata I Program, Faculty of Tecaher Training and Education, Pancasakti University Tegal. The First Advisor is Drs. H. Masfuad ES, M.Pd and the Second Advisor is Drs. H. The objective of this Research Project is to find out the effectiveness of applying Power Techniquestoward the students’ writing ability, especially in descriptive text. To develop the writing ability of descriptive text, the teacher needs methods or techniques to make the students easier in writing. Power Technique is one of technique to develop the students’ writing ability of descriptive text.
The research hypothesis is the applying Power Technique gives positive effect toward the students’ writing ability , especially in learning writing of descriptive text. Applying Power Technique is implemented to the seventh grade students at MTs Ikhsaniyah Siwungkuk in academic year 2016/2017.
The population of this research is all of the seventh grade students at MTs Ikhsaniyah Siwungkuk, which is totally 60 students. The writer uses cluster random sampling with two group design (experiment group and control group). The total of sample is 60 students, 30 students is as the experiment group and 30 other students is as the control group. The experiment group is the group of students who are taught by applying Power Technique. The control group is the group of students who are taught without applying Power Technique. After teaching for six meetings, the writer gives writing test to the experiment group and the control group.
The writer analyzes data by using t-test, score of t-test is 4,30. While score of t-table is at 5% level significance and on the degree of freedom (df) 58 is 1,67. Thus, t-test is higher that t-table (4,30 > 1,67). According to the result of data, the null hypothesis is rejected, and the research hypothesis is accepted. Therefore, it means that there is positive effect of applying Power Technique toward the students writing’ ability for the seventh grade students at MTs Ikhsaniyah Siwungkuk in academic year 2016/2017. Thus, the writer suggests to the teacher to apply Power Technique in the class. It makes the students to more understand easily in learning process, especially in learning writingof descriptive text.
