ENGLISH POP SONGS AS MEDIA IN TEACHING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION (An Experimental Study on Eight Grade Students of SMP Ihsaniyah Tegal in Academic year 2016/ 2017)

This study aims to find a positive influence of the song as media the influence of learning English pronunciation that incidentally in Junior High School has never been taught. Based on the theoretical background and framework of thinking, the research hypothesis can be formulated as follows: English pop songs have a positive influence to learn English pronunciation in Eight grade students in SMP Ihsaniyah Tegal.
The populations of this research studies are students’ of class VIII SMP Ihsaniyah Tegal in academic year 2016 / 2017. The writer uses Cluster Random Sampling or design two groups taken from 48 students. 24 student’s in the Experimental group and 24 students in the control group.
Trough six meetings held, several alternative procedures used to apply the use of POP songs and strategies used are practice with oral tests, such as providing material input, teaching students to sing POP songs in English, evaluating and motivating. Furthermore, from the data analysis obtained the conclusion that there are significant differences from the test results Pronunciation students are taught by using POP songs and students who were not. As indicated by the superiority of the values of the experimental group compared the control group, this is evidenced by the calculated results of a larger t-test of t-tables with a significance level of 5%. That is, the hypothesis of the research is accepted.
Based on data analysis, obtained t-test of 4.205 with a significance level of 5% t-table of 2.013. That means the t-test is bigger than t-table (4.205> 2.013). So that can be drawn conclusion as follows:
The using POP songs can gives a significant difference between the two groups in Eight grade in SMP Ihsaniyah Tegal. It proves that by using POP songs, students’ English pronunciation is better than before. POP songs also make them more active, more interested and enjoy the learning process.
