The objective of this research is to find out whether using Animation Film of Mouse Deer Stories can give positive effect toward students’ reading comprehension on the eighth grade students of state Junior High School 10 Tegal in the Academic Year 2015/2016.
Based on review of related theories and frame of thinking, the hypothesis of this research is the use of Animation Film will give positive effect toward students’ reading comprehension achievement of the eighth graders of Junior High School 10 Tegal in Academic year 2015/2016.
This population of this research is the eighth grade students of Junior High School 10 Tegal. The sample of this study is 60 students. They are divided into two groups. Each group contains 30 students. This research uses cluster random sampling technique to take the samples. The instrument used in this research is test. The type of the test used is multiple choices with 4 options (A, B, C, or D). The number of the test is 40 items done in 60 minutes. The writer conducts try out test on 30 students who have the same ability with research samples to determine the validity and reliability of the test instrument. Data analysis is tested by using t-test, to test the average difference of two groups. The score of t- table is at the 5% significance level is 1,645 and degrees of freedom (df) 58 so, t-ratio is higher than t-table (5,228>1,645). The calculation data obtained hypothesis of this research is accepted. Based on the result of this study, it is concluded that the use Animation Film gives positive effect toward students’ reading comprehension achievement of the Eighth Graders of Junior High School 10 Tegal in Academic year 2015/2016.
After doing the research, the writer has some suggestions. The teacher should have creativity to teach the students because there are many media of teaching that can be applied in the class and the teacher should give motivation to students in learning English, therefore the students will improve their competence in English.
