THE EFFECT OF USING THINK TALK WRITE (TTW) TECHNIQUE TOWARDS STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT AND MOTIVATION IN LEARNING VOCABULARY (An Experimental Research on the Tenth Grade Students of MA Asy-syafi’iyyah Jatibarang in the Academic Year of 2016/2017)

The Think Talk Write (TTW) is one of cooperative technique that consists of a study group heterogeneously that consists of 3 to 5 students. Think Talk Write (TTW) is designed to improve students’ responsibility to their own students and other students. The objectiveof this research is to find out whether the use of Think Talk Write (TTW) technique gives positive effect and to know it is effect on students’ vocabulary achievement and motivation of the tenth grade students in SMP MA Asy-syafi’iyyahJatibarang 2016/2017. The sample of this research is 29 students. This research used pre experimental one group pre-test post-test design. In this research, the writer uses vocabulary test, questioner and observation checklist as the instruments of the research. The type of the test is multiple choices with 5 options (A, B, C, D, and E). The number of the test is 40 items, the number of questioner is 14 items. The students are given 90 minutes to do the test. The writer observes the students’ motivation using the observation checklist during the treatment.
The data of the research are calculated by using vocabulary test. The t-table is 1,701 at the 5% significance level and degrees of freedom (df) 28 so, to is higher than t-table (11,291 > 1,701). The calculation data obtained hypothesis of this research is accepted. Based on the result of this study, it is calculated that the use of Think Talk Write (TTW) gives positive effect toward students’ achievement and motivation in learning vocabulary of the tenth grade students of MA Asy-syafi’iyyahJatibarang in the academic year of 2016/2017.
After doing the research, the writer has some suggestions. The teacher should have creativity to teach the students because there are many media of teaching that can be applied in the class and the teacher should give motivation to students in learning English, therefore the students could improve their competence in English.
