This population of this research is the eight grade students of SMP Ihsaniyah Tegal. The sample of this study is 30 students. The research is done by classifying sample into two tests. This research uses random sampling technique to take the samples. The instrument used in this research is test. The type of the test used is multiple choices with 4 options (A, B, C, or D). The number of the test is 40 items done in 80 minutes. The writer conducts try out test on 30 students who have the same ability with research samples to determine the validity and reliability of the test instrument. Data analysis of this research is tested by using independent sample t-test. The result of computing t-test value is 3.21. Based on the result with the degree of freedom (df) 58 on the level significant of 5% t-table is 1,645, it shows that t-test is higher than t-table (3.21>1,645). It means that there is significant difference of the reading comprehension between the students who are taught by using RAPQ Technique (read, ask, put, question) and the students who are not taught using RAPQ Technique (read, ask, put, question)
The conclusion of this research is the use of RAPQ Technique (read, ask, put, question) gives positive effect on the students’ reading comprehension at the eight grade students of Ihsaniyah Junior High in the Academic Year of 2016/2017. Based on the students' comprehension using RAPQ Technique (read, ask, put, question) in achieving reading ability, it was suggested for the English teachers to apply RAPQ Technique (read, ask, put, question) as one of many alternatives that can be used in teaching reading.
