THE EFFECT OF USING READING BOX MEDIA TOWARDS STUDENTS READING ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Study of the Eight Grade Students of MTs. Assalafiyah Sitanggal Brebes Regency in the Academic Year of 2015/ 2016)

The objective of this research is to find out whether the use of reading box media gives positive effect towards students reading achievement of the eighth grade students of Junior High school at MTs Assalafiyah Sitanggal Larangan Brebes regency in academic year of 2015/ 2016.
The population of this research is 280 students. The number of the sample of this research is 80 students. The sample are taken by using rndom sampling technique. The sample is divided into two groups. The first group is experimental group and the second group is control group. Each group consist of 40 students.
The writer use reading test as the instrument of the research. The type of the test is multiple-choice with four alternative answers A, B, C, and D. to know the validity and reliability of the test instrument, the writer had tried out instrument of reading test on the eighth grade students of MTs Assalafiyah Sitanggal Larangan Brebes in academic year 2015/2016.
The data of this researh is tested by using t-test. On the degree of freedom of 60 and the level of significance α = 0,1% (0,001), it show that t-test is higher than t-table (11.045> 3. 460). It means that there is significant different students reading achivement between the students who are taught by using reading box media and the students who are taught without using reading box media.
The conclusion of this research is Reading Box Media gives positive effect toward students reading achievement in the eight grade students of MTs Assalafiyah Sitanggal Larangan Brebes Regency in academic year of 2015/2016.
There are several suggestion in order to increase students reading achievement. First, students can enrich their vocabulary and the structure of english sentences and also knowledge of english culture by reading many english reading test. Second, as a teacher, we must find out a good method to teach and learning. So, the students can understand more about the material that learn. Third, the creativeness of teacher is needed while learning process so the students can enjoy the lesson well, there is no feel bored when they learn. The last, we not only concern with the comprehensiveness of the material, but also must concern with the students mastering.
