The objectives of this research project are; (1) To find out whether the use of Circle Games gives positive effect towards students’ vocabulary achievement of the fifth grade students of SD Muhammadiyah Kademangaran or not. (2) To find out whether or not there is any significant difference between the students who are taught by using circle games and those who are not taught by using circle games. Based on the background and theory, the hypothesis of this study are: using Circle Games is effective in teaching English vocabulary on the students of the Fifth Grade Students at SD Muhammadiyah Kademangaran in the Academic of Year 2016/2017.
The population as the subject of this research is all of fifth grade students in Dukuhturi region in the Academic Year 2016/2017, with students’ total number are 1.110 students. The sample of this research is only two State Elementary School in North Dukuhturi, they are: SD Muhammadiyah Kademangaran as experimental group that consist of 30 students was taught by using Circle Games in teaching vocabulary and MI NU 01 Kademangaran as control group that consist of 30 students that was taught by using conventional teaching. The writer used cluster random sampling in this research.
The instrument of this research is multiple-choice test which consists of 30 test items and there are four options A, B, C, and D. Moreover after getting the data the writer uses SPSS 21 to analyse the data. The result of this research after being calculated by t-test was 7.091, with a degree of validity (df) 29 and the level of significance (α) 5% , it is found that t-table 1.69. Thus the results of the t-test is greater than t-table (7.091 > 1.69). This means that the hypothesis is accepted.
In conclusion, it’s proven that Circle Games gives positive effect towards students vocabulary achievement of the fifth grade students at SD Muhammadiyah Kademangaran in the Academic of Year 2016/2017. So, it can be suggested for teachers to apply this strategy in teaching vocabulary
