THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING COLLABORATIVE STRATEGIC READING (CSR) IN THE TEACHING READING FOR THE SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SECONDARY SCHOOL

The objective of this Research Project is to find out the effect of using Collaborative Strategic Reading on the student’s reading achievement. of improve reading achievement, teacher needs strategy to make students knowing the text. Collaborative Strategic Reading (CSR) is one of strategy to improve student’s Reading achievement. The research hypothesis is the used Collaborative Strategic Reading gives positive effect on the student’s Reading achievement of the seventh grade students of secondary school. Use of Collaborative Strategic Reading is applied to the seventh grade students of State Junior High School 2 Bodehl in the academic Year of 2015/2016.
In this research, the population is all of seventh grade students of State Junior High School 2 Bodeh, which is totally 161 students. The writer uses cluster random sampling technique with two group design (experiment group and control group). the total of sampel is 66 students, 34 students is as experiment group and 32 students is as control group. the experiment group is the group of students who are taught by using Collaborative Strategic Reading, the control group is the group of students who are taught using Reading Aloud. After teaching for eight meetings, the writer gives a Post test to experiment group and control group.
The writer analyzes data by using t-test, score of t-test is 5,39. While score of t-teable is at 5% and score 1,99 . Thus, t-test is higher than t-table (5,39>1,99). Based on to the result of data, the null hypothesis is rejected, and the research hypothesis is accepted. Based the analysis, there is positive effect of using Collaborative Strategic Reading on the student’s reading achievement of the seventh grade students of State Junior High School 2 Bodeh. in the Academic Year of 2015/2016. Therefore, a teacher should always give an interesting atmosphere in the class to make students to learn more enterprising learning English.
