The objective of this Research Project is to find out the effect of using Chain Picture on the students ability in writing narrative text. To improve the writing of narrative text, teacher needs strategy or media to make students enjoyable and easy to write. The chained picture is one of media to improve students writing skill of narrative text.
The research hypothesis is the used Chain Picture gives positive effect on the students ability in writing of narrative text of the eighth grade students of secondary school. Using Chain Picture is applied to the eighth grade students of State Junior High School 1 Tegal in the academic Year of 2015/2016.
In this research, the population is all of eighth grade students of State Junior High School 1 Tegal, which is totally 256 students. The writer uses cluster random sampling with two group design (experiment group and control group). the total of sampel is 60 students, 30 students is as experiment group and 30 students is as control group. the experiment group is the group of students who are taught by using Chain Picture. the control group is the group of students who are taught without using Chain Picture. After teaching for six meetings, the writer gives a writing test to experiment group and control group.
The writer analysis data by using t-test, score of t-test is 3,625. While score of t-teable is at 5% level significance and on the degree of 58 is 1,645. Thus, t-test is higher than t-table (3,625>1,645). Based on to the result of data, the null hypothesis is rejected, and the research hypothesis is accepted. Based the analysis, there is positive effect of using Chain Picture on the students ability in writing of narrative text of the eighth grade students of State Junior High School 1 Tegal in the Academic Year of 2015/2016. Therefore, a teacher should always give an interesting atmosphere in the class to make the students enjoy learning English.
