The objective of this research is to find out the effect of Implementing Word Mapping Technique on the students’ vocabulary achievement (An Experimental Research of the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Al-Irsyad Tegal in the Academic Year of 2016/2017).
This research is experimental research and usestwo group design, the first group is experimental group and the second group is control group. The writer takes the sample by using cluster random sampling technique .The population of this research is the seventh grade students of SMP Al-Irsyad, Tegal which is totally 151 students. Each class consists of 30 students. The writer uses cluster random sampling technique to take the sample of the research. The first group is experiment group that consists of students who are taught by using Word Mapping, while second group is control group that consists of students who are not taught by using Implementing Word Mapping.The number of the sample is 60 students.
The sample is given a test containing 40 Multiple Choice items. The writer uses multiple choice test as the instrument to know the validity and reliability of the instrument. The writer gives a try out for students having the same competence with the sample.The data of this research at second semester. The data is analysed by using t-test. Based on the result with the degree of freedom (df) 58 on the level significant of 5% t-tableis 1,645, it shows that t-ratio is higher than t-table (3,763>1,645). It means that there is significant difference of vocabulary achievement between students who are taught by using Implementing Word Mapping technique and the students who are not taught by using Implementing Word Mapping technique.
The conclusion of this research is implementing Word Mapping Technique gives positive effect on the vocabulary achievement of the seventh grade students of SMP Al-Irsyad Tegal, in the academic year of 2016/2017.
