The objective of the research is to find out the positive effects of using Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R) strategy on students’ vocabulary achievement eighth grade students’ of SMP Negeri 3 Brebes in the academic year of 2017/2018.
The population consists of 297 students.Technique that used in this research is random sampling, and the sample of 30 students.This is an experimental research with one-group design, collecting the research is by vocabulary test.
The result of t-test value is 3,16, the researcher consults it to t-table with 5% significant level is 2,000. Because of the result of t-test is higher than t-table (3,16 > 2,000), so the null hypothesis (H0) is refused and the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted. It means that there is a significant difference in vocabulary achievement for students who are taught by using PQ4R strategy is possible for language teacher to create interactive program for their teaching-learning or instructional purposes. After being taught by using PQ4R strategy, the students can enlarge their vocabulary and easy to memorize new words because they get fun in learning and have motivation to improve their knowledge.
