The objectives of this study is the speech act (locutionary, illocutionary and perlocutionary acts) of the movie (The Hobbit : Unexpected Journey by.J.R.R Tolkien). This research design is qualitative descriptive research. In order the collect data, the writer uses some techniques: wactching the movie, download the movie script, and than describe the classification of the illocutionary acts categories, analyze the perlocutionary effect success or unsuccesful, tabulating the data and concluding the data. The writer choose some data relate with the theories. Among those 40 data the writer found firstly, the researcher classifies illocutionary acts that occur in The Hobbit movie. The first type is representatives. There are ninteen (19) representatives which consist of stating, asserting, claiming, and concluding. The second type is directives. There are thirteen (13) directives which contain commanding, requesting, asking, and ordering. The third type is expressives. There are one (1) expressives which express praising and thanking. The forth is declarations. There are three (3) about declaratives. And the last type is commissives four (4) which cover promising. Second The researcher found various ways the perlocutionary effects successful or unsuccessful after the speech act are uttered. There are twenty (20) perlocutionary effects that successful with body language assist and twenty (20) perlocutionary effects unsuccessful.
