THE INFLUENCE OF USING “FIRING LINE STRATEGY” ON THE STUDENTS’ READING ACHIEVEMENT IN RECOUNT TEXT (An Experimental Research to the Tenth Graders of SMK N 1 Dukuhturi in the Academic Year 2017/2018)

The objective of this research is to know whether the implementation of using FLS (Firing Line Strategy) can give positive effect toward student’s reading achievement in the tenth grade of SMK N 1 Dukuhturi in the Academic Year 2017/2018.
Population of this research is the tenth grade students of SMK N 1 Dukuhturi in the Academic Year 2017/2018 which is 394 students. Sample of this research consists of 60 students, which are randomly taken. Then, the sample is divided into two groups. The experiment group is taught by using Firing Line Strategy and the control group that is taught without using Firing Line Strategy. Each group contains 30 students. The writer used reading test as the instrument of the research. To know the validity and the reliability of the instrument, the writer had tried out by giving a test to 30 students having the same competence with the sample of the research.
Data analysis in this research is tested by using t-test to determine whether there is a significant difference in the result of the two groups. The research result shows that there is a significant difference of students’ reading achievement between students who are taught by using Firing Line Strategy and students who are taught without using Firing Line Strategy. Based on the data analysis, by utilizing SPSS 23 show that the gained of Paired Sample T-test is 0,020. It implies that the implementation of FLS is effective. The correlation value is 0,404 is moderate. It determines that the implementation of FLS is effective enough in teaching reading.
The conclusion of the research is that there is positive effect of the use of using Firing Line Strategy technique toward students’ reading achievement on the seventh grade of SMK N 1 Dukuhturi in the Academic Year 2017/2018.
