The objective of this Research Project is to find out The Effectiveness of Communication Language Teaching (CLT) Approach in Improving Students’ Speaking Ability (An Experimental Study on the Eighth Graders Students of SMP N 3 Brebes in the Academic Year 2017/2018)
In this research, the population is all of eighth graders students in SMPN 3 Brebes, which is totally 269 students. The writer uses cluster random sampling with two group design ( experiment group and control group). The total of sample is 64 students.
The research used experiment with two desain group. 32 students is as experiment group and 32 students is as control group. The experiment group is the group of student who are taught by using Communication Language Teaching (CLT). The Control group is the group of students who are taught without using Communication Language Teaching (CLT). After teaching for six meetings, the writer gives a final test (post-test) to experiment group and control group.
The data was analyzed the using t-test, score of t-test is 2,744. While score of t-table is at 5% level significance and on the degree of 62 is 1,670. Thus, t-test is higher that t-table (2,744>1,670). According to result of data, hypothesis t-test is rejected, and hypothesis t-table is accepted. It means there is possitive effect to improve students’ speaking ability between students who are taught by using Communication Language Teaching (CLT) and those who are not taught by using Communication Language Teaching (CLT). According to the analysis, Communication Language Teaching (CLT) gives positive effect to improving students’ speaking ability. Then, it is suggestedto English teachers to use Communication Language Teaching to improve students’ speaking ability.
