Vocabulary is an important component in studying a language where all kinds of understanding, ideas, concept, thoughts and fancies are born with the language. English as an international language is very important to master. The essential thing in learning English is about the mastery of vocabulary, and then a teacher should be able to choose appropriate learning technique so that students are not bored in a learning process.
The problem in this research is to know whether using wordwall media could improve students’ vocabulary. The purpose of the study is to provide a concrete illustration of the use of wordwall media in learning English, providing there is clearer idea of changes in students’ behavior that occurred during the process of learning vocabulary by using wordwall media.
This classroom action research was done in 2 cycles. Each cycle consist of 1) Planning, 2) Action, 3) Obsevation, 4) Reflection which last about 2 months. The subject of this research is the seventh grade students of MTs NU Petarukan. In order to know the students’ vocabulary mastery, the result of each test was analyzed. The partipation of students during the teaching and learning process was gained from the result of the observation. Teacher’s performance as additional data was also analyzed.
The indicator of the success of classroom research action is that student has reached the individual passing criteria at score 77,00 and classical passing criteria the total of the students who get score 77,00 or more is minimally 65% from the total number of students. The research result shows that the classical average score in cycle 1 is 75,6. There were 13 students (56,5%) who passed minimum passing criteria (KKM). In the cycle 2, the classical average score has improved to 86,91 and in this cycle all students have passed from minimum passing criteria (KKM). Based on the result, it can be concluded that students’ vocabulary mastery has improved by using wordwall media in learning vocabulary in the seventh grade of MTs NU Petarukan. The classroom action research is necessary to be done by teacher in order to get maximum result of teaching and learning process.
