THE EFFECT OF LUDO WORD GAME (LWG) ON STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental study on the Seventh Graders of SMP Negeri 3 Slawi in the Academic Year of 2017/2018)

The objective of this research is to find out the effect of Ludo Word Game (LWG) on students’ vocabulary achievement of the seventh graders students of SMP Negeri 3 Slawi in the academic year of 2017/ 2018.
Based on the review of related literature, the hypothesis of the research is proposed as follows: applying Ludo Word Game give positive effect towards students’ vocabulary achievement of the seventh graders students of SMP Negeri 3 Slawi.
The population of this research is the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Slawi. The number of the population is 315 students. The writer used random sampling technique to take the sample. The sample consists of 30 students as the experimental group and 30 students as the control group. The writer uses vocabulary test to measure the students’ vocabulary achievement. The form of the test is multiple choices. It consists of 40 multiple choice items. Each number has four options; A, B, C, and D. The time allotment of that test is 80 minutes.
The result of statistical analysis of this research is tested by using t-test to test the difference between the experimental group and the control group. The result of t-test is 3,723 whereas ttable (3,723>2.002) at significance level of 5% and degree of freedom is 58. The result of t-test is higher than t-table. It means that there is a significant difference of students’ vocabulary achievement between the students who were taught by using Ludo Word Game and the students who were taught by using GTM.
Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Ludo Word Game gives positive effect on the vocabulary achievement of the seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Slawi in the academic year of 2017/2018.
