THE EFFECT OF USING WORDLESS PICTURES TOWARD STUDENTS’ WRITING ACHIEVEMENT (An Experimental Study on the Eighth-Grade Students of SMP N 13 Tegal in the Academic Year 2017/2018)

The objective of this research is to find out whether there is positive effect of applying Wordless Pictures on the eighth grade students’ writing achievement of Junior High School.
The population of this research is all of the eighth grade students of SMP N 13 Tegal in the academic year 2017/2018 consisting of 235 students. This research is conducted by using two group design; the first group is called experimental group which is taught by using Worldess Pictures, while the second group is called control group which is not taught by using Wordless Pictures. The number of sample taken by using cluster random sampling technique, is 30 students for each group.
Based on the calculation of data analysis, the t-test is 4,225. It is consulted with t-table on the significant level (α) of 5% and the degree of freedom (df) of 58. The t-table obtained is 1.672. It proves that t-ratio is higher then t-table (4,225 > 1.672), the hypothesis of the research is accepted. So, it is concluded that Wordless Pictures gives positive effect on the students’ writing achievement. Therefore, teachers are better to apply Wordless Pictures in teaching writing.
