The objective of this research is to know whether the Students' Determining Diction Ability has positive effect toward the English Sentences Building Ability of second year Student at SMP Negeri Dukuhturi 2.
Based on the theorytical background and theories of language teaching, the hypotesis of this research is proposed as follows : "There is positive effect of Students' Determining Diction Ability toward the English Sentences Building Ability."
The population of the research is the second Year Students at SMP Negeri Dukuhturi 2. The number of the population is 154 students. The writer takes 40 students as the sample by using random sampling technique. The sample consists of 2 groups, they are experiment group and control group. Each group consists of 20 students.
The writer uses test as the instrument of the research. The test needs 30 minutes to do. The type of the test is multiple choice. To know the validity and reliability of the instrument, the writer tried out the instrument to 20 students who having the same competence with the sample of this study.
The data of this research are gained from the result of diction and English sentence building test which is done by the samples of research : The result of data analysis shows that t-test is 7,656 and t-test table is 2, 528 at the significant level 1% so, the result of t-test is higher than t-test table (7,656 > 2,528).

Thus the conclusion of this research is " There is positive effect of students' determining diction ability toward the English Sentences Building Ability of second year student at SMP Negeri Dukuhturi 2."
