The objective of this research is to find o ut the difficult factors faced by
the fifth grade students of Elementary School in Kaligangsa Wetan Brebes in
studying English in academic year 2008/2009.
The population of the research is all of the fifth grade students of
Elementary School in Kaligangsa Wetan Brebes who have difficult ies in studying
English in academic year 2008/2009, the number of the population is 78 students.
The sample consist of 40 students, the sample are taken by random sampling
technique. The writer used a questionnaire to collect the data.
The writer used a questionnaire as the instrument of the research. The
questionnaire consists of 30 items which has four options. To know the validity
and reliability of the instrument, the writer tried out the instrument by giving the
questionnaire to 10 students in SD Negreri Kaligangsa Kulon 03 Brebes who have
the same difficulties in studying English with the sample of this research. The
writer uses the formula Percentage descriptive statistics to analyze the data.
The result of this research is that problematic factors which are often faced
by the fifth grade students of Elementary School in Kaligangsa Wetan Brebes
academic year 2008/2009 have concern with the facilities and supporting
infrastructures factors with percentage 85,93%, if it consult with the settled
criteria in the formula Percentage descriptive is very obstruct.
The conclusion of the research is that problematic factors faced by the
fifth grade students of Elementary School in Kaligangsa Wetan Brebes are caused
by the lack of facilities and supporting infrastructures.
