The objective of this research is to know the influence of using the language instruction toward the English Achievement of the seventh year students of SMP Bhakti Praja Suradadi - Kabupaten Tegal academic year 2008/2009.
Based on the theoretical background and the theories of language teaching, the hypothesis of this research is proposed as follows : "The students who are taught by using bilingual between English and Indonesian as the language instruction had have better English achievement than the students who are taught by using Indonesian as the language instruction in the second semester in the seventh year at SMP Bhakti Praja Suradadi Tegal, in academic year 2008/2009.
The population for this research is all of the seventh year students of SMP Bhakti Praja Suradadi - Kabupaten Tegal, consist of 120 students. The number of the samples is 60 students. They are chosen in sampling random. In which as the sample the writer divided into two groups, each group consist of 30 students, that is 30 students who are taught by using between English and Indonesian as instruction taken as the experiment group, and the other 30 students who are taught by using Indonesian as language instruction as the control group.
The instrument which is used is multiple choice. It consist of 30 items and it has been tested for 20 students (out of sample) to know the validity and reliability of test. The data is analyzed by using t-test. The result of data analysis shows that with 5% confident level and degree of freedom 58, t-test is 2,561 and t-table is 2,000. It is proved the result of t-test is higher than t-table (2,561 > 2,000), it means that the research hypothesis is accepted.
