The objective of this research is to know the influence of the application of edutainment method toward the students' English achievement in the fourth year at SDN Krandon 3 Tegal.
Based on the theories and frame of thinking, the hypothesis of this research in presumed that the using of edutainment method gives positives influence to the students' English achievement.
The population of this research are all students in the fourth year at SDN Krandon 3 Tegal in Academic Year 2008/2009. The number of population are 50 students and the writer only takes 40 students as sample. They are devided into two groups. The first group consists of 20 students who are taught by using edutainment method and the other group consists of 20 students who are taught by Grammar Translation Method (GTM).
The instrument of his research is English test. The type of the test is multiple choice test which consists of 30 items with four options.
The data analysis is based on t-test. To know whether the hypothesis is accepted or not, the calculation must be based on significant degree of five percent.
The result of data analysis shows that the experimental group (the first group) has its means 7,085 but the control group (the second group) has its means 6,285. The t-ratio shows 2,285 while the table with significant level 5% (0,05) and the degree of freedom of 38 is 2,021. Because the t-ratio is bigger than t-table (2,285>2,021), the hypothesis (Hi) is accepted. It could be concluded that the application of edutainment method gives positive influence to the students' English achievement. It means that edutainment method is effective to improve the students' English achievement for elementary students.
