The objective of this research is to know how far the effectiveness of computer multimedia application on students' vocabulary achievement in the fifth year at SD Negeri Debong Lor Kota Tegal.
Based on the theories and frame of thinking, so the hypothesis of this research is proposed that the application of computer multimedia has positive influence on students' vocabulary achievement at SDN Debong Lor Kota Tegal.
The population of this research are all the fifth year students of SDN Debong Lor Kota Tegal Semester II in Academic Year 2008/2009. The total population of this research are 40 students and the writer takes all of the students as sample. Then the sample is devided into two groups, they are experimental group and control group. The experimental group is the student who are taught by using multimedia computer and it consists of 20 students. The control group is the students who are not taught by using multimedia computer and it consists of 20 students.
The writer use a test as the instrument of the research. The test takes 60 minutes to do. The type of the test is multiple choice test with four options A, B, C, and D. To find out the validity and the reliability of the instrument, the writer give the test for 25 students who have same competence with the sample.
The research data are gained from the result of English test done by sample of research respondent during the second Semester. The data of this research is tested by using t-test. Based on the result of data anlysis, t-ratio 2,647 whereas t-table with the degree of freedom is (38) on the level significance 5 % table is 2,021 (2,647 > 2,021). It shows that students who are taught by using multimedia computer have better English achievement than those who are taught without using multimedia computer upon vocabulary skill achievement. It could be concluded that the application of computer multimedia has positive influence on students' vocabulary achievement.
