School Based Curriculum ( KTSP ) as the latest curriculum brings a new paradigm in English teaching in Indonesia. This curriculum is the revision of the previous curriculum. In the new curriculum, the materials are now arranged more appropriately to develop students' ability to understand and create spoken and written discourse in four basic skills : listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This research is about the English teachers' problems in the implementing school based curriculum ( KTSP ). It is very important and useful to know and always follow the implementation of KTSP by finding the English teachers' problems in implementation of KTSP.
This research is started at the beginning of November up to the end of November 2009. There are 42 populations and the writer takes 10 respondents as sample by random sampling.
In this research, the writer uses the questionnaire and an interview which the teachers answered the questions based on their experience or their condition. The form of the questionnaire was multiple choices that consist of 25 questions. The interview is used to complete the information or data which is collected from the questionnaire.
The result of this research shows that the teachers have several problems in implementing KTSP. They are the problems in the teaching learning preparation, in the teaching learning process, and in the evaluation. Moreover, the common problems that tend to be faced by the English teachers in the elementary school in West Tegal Sub district are mostly they do not understand the content of KTSP because they have not enough KTSP trainings. In order to implement the English curriculum well, the writer proposes the following suggestions. The teachers should get more understanding about the curriculum; for instance, by reading some books related to the curriculum and joining the English curriculum trainings.
