The objective of this study is to find out whether the applying expository learning stategy gives positive effect toward the English structure achievement of the seventh year students of SMP 01 Dukuhturi Tegal.
Based on the theoretical background and the logical frame work, the hypothesis of this research is proposed as follows : "Applying expository learning strategy gives positive effect toward the English structure achievement of the seventh year students of SMP 01 Dukuhturi Tegal in academic year 2009/ 2010".
The population of this research is the seventh year students of SMP 01 Dukuhturi in academic year 2009/ 2010. Total number of the population is 316 students. The writer uses random sampling technique to choose the sample of the study. The number of the samples is 40 students. The sample consist of two groups, the experiment group, who taught using Expository learning strategy, and the control group, who taught using GTM method, and each group contains twenty students. The writer uses multiple choices structure test as the instrument of the research. To know the validity and reliability of the instrument, the writer tries out the instrument by giving test to 20 students having the same competence with the sample of the study.
The data of this research is gained from the result of reading test. Then, researcher compared it with the score of daily test. Data analysis of this research is tested by using t-test. The result shows that the calculation is 4,6157. By degree of freedom 38, and significance (?) 0,05. It is found that t-table 2,021. so, t0 is bigger than t1 (4,6157 > 2,021). Thus, the research, hypothesis is accepted.
From the result of analyzing the data, it could be concluded that the applying expository learning strategy gives positive effect toward the English structure achievement of the seventh year students of SMP 01 Dukuhturi Tegal in academic year 2009/ 2010.
