The research is to know whether there is positive effect of applying story retelling technique on The Speaking Achievement of Students Senior High School of the second grade students of SMU NU 01 PENAWAJA Adiwerna Tegal Resident in Academic Year 2009/2010.
The hypothesis of this research is there is positive effect of applying story retelling technique on The Speaking Achievement of Students Senior High School of the second grade students of SMU NU 01 PENAWAJA Adiwerna Tegal Resident in Academic Year 2009 /2010.
The population is the whole second grade students of SMU NU 01 PENAWAJA Adiwerna Tegal Resident in Academic Year 2009/2010. The number of the population is 100 students. The random sampling technique is used to take the sample. There are 60 students as the sample; they are divided into two groups. Each group has 30 members. The first group (the experiment group ) consist of the students who are taught by using retelling story technique and the second group (control group) consist of the students who give direct method to learn English speaking. The data of the research is gained by using English speaking test.
The writer uses t-test analyze the data it has confidence level of 5 %. Score t-test is 6,348 and consulted with n=60, it shows that t-table is 2,000. it means that t-test is higher than t table ( 6,348 > 2,000 ). There is positive effect of the implementing story retelling technique on The Speaking Achievement of Students Senior High School of the second grade students of SMU NU 01 PENAWAJA Adiwerna Tegal Resident in Academic Year 2009 / 2010.
