Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui adakah pengaruh positif pada siswa yang diajar dengan metode Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC).
Berdasarkan kajian teori dan kerangka berfikir, hipotesis dari penelitian ini adalah metode Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) memberikan pengaruh positif pada kemampuan menulis naratif siswa.
Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas delapan SMP N 1 Tegal, sample dari penelitian ini ada 40 siswa. Sampel dibagi dalam dua grup yaitu grup eksperimen dan grup kontrol yang masing-masing terdiri dari 20 siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik sample cluster. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes. Tipe tes yang digunakan adalah pilihan ganda dengan 4 opsi yaitu : a, b, c dan d. Penulis mengadakan tes uji coba pada 20 siswa yang mempunyai kemampuan yang sama dengan sampel penelitian untuk mengetahui validitas dan reliabilitas instrumen tes. Analisis data menggunakan uji-t untuk menguji perbedaan yang signifikan pada dua grup. Pada taraf signifikansi 5% dan derajat kebebasan (dk) 38 diperoleh t-tabel sebesar 2,042. Hasil penghitungan data menunjukkan t-hitung sebesar 3,363. Hal ini menunjukkan t-hitung lebih besar daripada t-tabel (3,363>2,042). Hal ini berarti bahwa hipotesis penelitian ini diterima.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition memberikan pengaruh positif pada kemampuan menulis naratif siswa.

The objective of this research is to find out whether there is positive influence on students who are taught using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method.
Based on review of related literature and logical framework the hypothesis of this research is; Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method gives positive influence on Students' Ability in Writing Narrative Text.
The population of this research is the eight grade students of SMP N 1 Tegal; the sample of this study is 40 students. The samples are divided into two groups namely experiment group and control group, each consists of 20 students. This research uses cluster sampling technique to take the samples. The instrument used in this research is test. Type of test used is multiple choice with 4 options; a,b,c and d. The writer conducts try-out test on 20 students who have the same ability with research samples to determine the validity and reliability of the test instrument. Data analysis is tested by using t-test, to test the average difference of the two groups. The t-table is 2.042 at the 5% significance level and degrees of freedom (df) 38. The calculation data obtains t-value 3.363, so t-value is greater than t-table (3.363>2.042). It means that the hypothesis of this research is accepted.
Based on the results of this study, it is concluded that Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC) method gives positive influence on Students' Ability in Writing Narrative Text.
