The random sampling technique is used to take the sample. There are 40 students as the sample; they are divided into two groups. Each group has 20 members. The first group (the experiment group) consists of the students who are taught by using dictation technique and the other group (control group) consists of the students who are not taught by using the dictation technique to learn English writing. The data of the research is gained by using English dictation test. The writer uses t-test analysis and level of significance (?) 5 %. The Score of t-test is 2,461 and consulate with n = 40, it shows t-table is 2,021. It means that t - test is higher than t-table (2,461>2,021). Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang positif pada penerapan teknik dikte terhadap kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas 5 SD Negeri Muarareja 1 Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010. Hipotesis penelitian ini adalah bahwa teknik dikte adalah efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa SD Negeri Muarareja 1 Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010.
Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas 5 SD Negeri Muarareja 1 Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010. Jumlah populasinya sebanyak 50 orang siswa. Penulis menggunakan metode acak untuk mengambil contoh. Ada 40 siswa sebagai contoh, mereka dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok. Masing-masing kelompok terdiri dari 20 siswa. Kelompok pertama (kelompok eksperimen) terdiri atas siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan teknik dikte dan kelompok yang lain terdiri dari siswa yang tidak diajar dengan menggunakan teknik dikte (kelompok kontrol).
Data penelitian ini diperoleh menggunakan test tertulis membaca. Penulis menggunakan analisa uji-t dan taraf signifikansinya (?) 5%. Nilai uji-t adalah 2,461 dan dikonsultasikan dengan 40 siswa, melihat di t-tabel adalah 2,021. Itu artinya bahwa nilai uji-t lebih besar dari pada t-tabel (2,461 > 2,021). Ada pengaruh yang positif penerapan teknik dikte terhadap kemampuan menulis pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Muarareja 1 Kota Tegal Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010.
