This shows that in fact greater than rtable rhitung is 0.840> 0.312, thus nil hypothesis (Ho), who proposed "No significant effect of confidence on the ability of communication in a discussion group at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ketanggungan Brebes Year Lesson 2009/2010 "rejected and accept the alternative hypothesis (Ha)" There is significant effect of confidence on the ability of communication in a discussion group at the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Ketanggungan Brebes Academic Year 2009/2010". Rasa percaya diri merupakan kekuatan keyakinan mental seseorang atas kemampuan dan kondisi dirinya. Kemampuan komunikasi pada siswa dalam berdiskusi dapat dipengaruhi oleh rasa percaya diri, semakin tinggi rasa percaya diri siswa maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat kemampuan komunikasinya.
Permasalahan yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini adalah apakah terdapat Pengaruh Rasa Percaya Diri terhadap Kemampuan Komunikasi dalam Diskusi Kelompok. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat rasa percaya diri dan pada tingkat apakah kemampuan komunikasi dalam diskusi kelompok serta untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya pengaruh rasa percaya diri terhadap kemampuan komunikasi dalam diskusi kelompok pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Ketanggungan Kabupaten Brebes Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010.
Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII sejumlah 197 siswa, sampel ditetapkan sebesar 40 siswa sebagai responden. Tekhnik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dengan cara random sampling. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode angket sebagai metode utama, sedangkan metode wawancara dan dokumentasi sebagai metode pendukung. Dari hasil analisis data, ditemukan rhitung sebesar 0,840. Nilai hitung tersebut dikonsultasikan pada rtabel, N = 40, harga kritik r product moment taraf signifikan 5% diperoleh 0,312. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ternyata rhitung lebih besar dari rtabel yaitu 0,840 > 0,312, dengan demikian hipotesis nihil (Ho) yang mengemukakan "Tidak ada pengaruh secara signifikan rasa percaya diri terhadap kemampuan komunikasi dalam diskusi kelompok pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Ketanggungan Kabupaten Brebes Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010" ditolak dan menerima hipotesis alternatif (Ha) "Ada pengaruh secara signifikan rasa percaya diri terhadap kemampuan komunikasi dalam diskusi kelompok pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Ketanggungan Kabupaten Brebes Tahun Pelajaran 2009/2010"
