This research aims to find out the implementation of scaffolding technique in teaching writing of recount, to find out whether or not scaffolding technique contributes positive effect to students' ability to write recount text to find out whether or not scaffolding technique contributes to students' awareness to write recount text, to find out the interaction of students and teachers in the process of implementing scaffolding technique in teaching writing of recount at the eighth grade students of SMP Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Taman Pemalang in the even semester of the academic year of 2009/2010.
Based on the review of related literature, the hypothesys is "Scaffolding technique gives the positive effect on students' ability in writing Recount text on the eighth grade students of SMP Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Taman Pemalang of the even semester in the Academic Year 2009/2010".
Population of this research is all eighth grade students of SMP Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah in the even semester of the Academic Year 2009/2010 which consists of 5 classes. The total number of 5 classes are 194 students.
The sample of this research was taken by using cluster random sampling. There are two classes were chosen as the classes for experiment and control class. VIIIA was the experiment class which has total number of the students are 34 students, whereas VIIIB which consists of 31 students was as the control class.
The research instrument sheet used was a test for evaluating their ability in writing recount. The validity of the test is construct and content validity and the reliability used for the test was test-retest.
This research used t-test to analyze the result of the research. In the research shows that in the degree of significant for 5%, there is a significant different between experiment and control class. Therefore, the hypothesis is accepted.
The conclusion of the research is that Scaffolding technique gives the positive effect on students' ability in writing Recount text on the eighth grade students of SMP Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah Taman Pemalang of the even semester in the Academic Year 2009/2010.
