Kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa dipengaruhi oleh banyak faktor. Salah satunya adalah pemilihan model pembelajaran yang tepat. SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectually) sebagai salah satu produk model pembelajaran memungkinkan siswa mendapatkan pengalaman belajar yang berbeda sehingga dapat meningkatkan motivasi dalam belajar bahasa Inggris.
Berdasarkan landasan teori dan kerangka berpikir, maka disusun hipotesis: "Diduga terdapat pengaruh positif dari penerapan model pembelajaran SAVI terhadap kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa Sekolah Dasar".
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectually) terhadap kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa Sekolah Dasar kelas VI SDN Tegalsari 5 Tegal tahun ajaran 2009/2010.
Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VI SDN Tegalsari 5 Tegal tahun ajaran 2009/2010 yang berjumlah 26 siswa. Dalam penelitian ini penulis menggunakan teknik total sampling, yaitu mengambil semua anggota populasi untuk ditetapkan sebagai sampel. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 26 siswa, dan diteliti menggunakan Desain Satu Kelompok.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka dapat disimpulkan beberapa hal sebagai berikut: 1) Hasil analisis data dan pengujian hipotesis menunjukkan perolehan thitung sebesar 2.815 dan ttabel dengan taraf signifikasi 5% adalah 2.056 sehingga thitung lebih besar daripada ttabel yaitu (2.815 > 2.056) yang berarti penerapan model pembelajaran SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectually) mempunyai pengaruh positif yang signifikan terhadap kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa kelas VI Sekolah Dasar. 2) Hasil nilai post-test dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 8.12 ternyata lebih tinggi dari hasil nilai pre-test dengan nilai rata-rata 7.36 yang berarti penerapan model pembelajaran SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectually) mempunyai pengaruh yang positif terhadap kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa kelas VI Sekolah Dasar.
Simpulan menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif dari penerapan model pembelajaran SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visualization, Intellectually) terhadap kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa Sekolah Dasar.
