The objective of this research is to find out the effect of implementing edutainment method on students' vocabulary achievement in the fourth grade of MI Mambaul Ulum Bandung Tegal.
Based on the theories and logical framework, the hypothesis of this research is the implementation of Edutainment method has a positive effect on the students' vocabulary achievement. Population in this study is the fourth grade students of MI Mambaul Ulum Bandung Tegal in academic year 2009/2010 consisting of 2 classes. Class A consists of 30 students and class B consists of 30 students, so the number of population is 60 students. The number of the samples of this research is 40 students who are chosen by using random sampling techniques. They are divided into two groups; each group consists of 20 students. The first group is an experimental group consisting of students who are taught by using Edutainment Method and the second group is a control group consisting of students who are taught by using Grammar Translation Method.
The instrument in this research is vocabulary test. The test consists of 30 items. The form of the tests is multiple choices.
The data is analyzed by using t-test. To know whether the hypothesis is accepted or refused, the calculation must be based on significance level of 5%.
The result of data analysis shows that the experimental group (Group I) has its mean 7, 245 and the control group (Group II) has its mean 6, 43. The t-ratio shows 2, 763 while the table with significance level 5 %( 0, 05) and degree of freedom of 38 is 2,021. Because the t-ratio is higher than t-table (2, 763 > 2,021), the hypothesis is accepted. It could be concluded that the implementing of edutainment method gives positive effect on students' vocabulary achievement in the fourth grade at MI Mambaul Ulum Bandung Tegal. It means that edutainment method is effective to improve the student's vocabulary achievement.
