The objective of this research is to know the use of the processed skill approach in the English teaching learning process for SD Negeri student in the fifth years, first semester in Academic Year 2009/2010. The population in this research is the fifth year students of SD Negeri Pasarbatang 03, academic year 2009/2010. With the number of population consist of 40 students. The writer uses random sampling technique to choose the sample of the study. The number of the samples is 20 students, in which as the sample the writer divide into two groups, each group consist of 20 students, that is 20 students who are thaught by using processed skill approach taken as the experiment group ( I ) and 20 students who are thaught by using Inquri-discovery approach as the control group ( II ). The writer uses a test as the instrument of the research. Written test consist of 30 items in multiple choices types with four option. The test needs fourty five minutes to do. To know the validity and reability of the instrument. The result of the analysis shows that the degree significance is five percent (5%) and free degrees 38. The result of t-test is 2,4065 and t-table is 1,645 so the result of t-test is higher than t-table (2,4065 > 1,645). The conclusion of the research is the student who are given the English Lesson by the processed skill approach will get better English Achivement than those who are given the English lesson by Inquiry-discovey approach." />

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan keterampilan proses dalam proses belajar mengajar bahasa inggris pada siswa siswa sekolah dasar kelas V semester gasal tahun pelajaran 2009 / 2010.
Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua siswa SD Negeri Pasarbatang 03 kelas V tahun pelajaran 2009 / 2010. Dengan jumlah 40 siswa.
Penulis menggunakan teknik random sampling untuk memilih sampel penelitian. Jumlah sampel penelitian ada 40 siswa. Yang terdiri dari 2 kelompok, tiap kelompok terdiri dari 20 siswa, yaitu 20 siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan pendekatan keterampilan proses yang disebut juga dengan kelompok eksperimen (I) dan 20 siswa yang diajar dengan menggunakan pendekatan Inquiri-discovery sebagai kelompok kontrol (II).
Penulis menggunakan test sebagai instrument penelitian. Tes tertulis dalam bentuk multiple choice sebanyak 30 soal dengan 4 pilihan. Tes membutuhkan waktu 45 menit untuk mengerjakannya. Untuk mengetahui validitas dan reabilitas instrumen, penulis menguji instrumen terlebih dahulu.
Adapun data untuk penelitian ini dilakukan dengan Uji-t dengan menentukan perbedaan nilai mean. Dari perhitungan t-hitung sebesar 2,4065 dan setelah dikonsultasikan ke tabel t dengan taraf signifikan 5 % dan derajat kebebasan 38, maka diperoleh t-tabel sebesar 1,645 yang berarti t-hitung lebih besar dari pada t-tabel (2,4065 > 1,645 ).
Dari perhitungan tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa bagi siswa yang diberi pelajaran bahasa inggris dengan menggunakan keterampilan proses memperoleh prestasi yang lebih baik daripada dengan siswa yang menggunakan pendekatan Inquri-discovery.
