The purpose of this research is to recognize whether the effect of using single picture - cued verbal - multiple choice technique gives positive effect on students' listening achievement.
Based on the theoretical background and logical frame, the hypothesis of this research is " the effect of using single picture - cued verbal - multiple choice technique gives positive effect on students' listening achievement of the seventh grade students of SMP N 04 Brebes". In other word, the students who are taught listening by using single picture - cued verbal - multiple choice technique than students who are taught listening without using single picture - cued verbal - multiple choice technique.
The population of this final project is all the the seventh grade students in second semester at SMP Negeri 04 Brebes in academic year 2009/2010. The sample in this research are 60 students who are divided into two groups. The first group is experimental group which consists of 30 students, and the second group is control group which consists of 30 students too. The sample are taken by using random sampling technique.
The data of this research is gained by using multiple choice test, which consists of 30 items. Analysis of this research is calculated by using t- test.
The result of this research shows that t-test is 3,488, whereas t-table at significant level of 5% with degree of freedom 58 is 2,000. The result shows that t-test is higher than t-table. So, H1 is accepted and H0 is rejected.
The conclusion of this research is that the effect of using single picture - cued verbal - multiple choice technique gives positive effect on students' listening achievement of the seventh grade students in the second semester at SMP Negeri 04 Brebes in academic year 2009/2010.
