Learning English becomes more and more important nowadays since we know that English is one of the international languages which can be used to communicate around the world. In Indonesia, English is learnt as a foreign language. Learning a different language is sometimes difficult since the target language has different elements compared to the native language. These differences sometimes cause students make errors when using it. This final project primarily deals with an The analysis of Students Errors in Using Preposition of Place. It describes an error of preposition of place in composing text which made by the first year students of SMK Pusponegoro Brebes in the academic year of 2009/2010. The writer use the Descriptive study of which the data were obtained from the students error in using Preposition of place in composing Text. Subject of the research is the first year students of the SMK Pusponegoro of the academic year 2009 - 2010. The number of population are 150 students. The samples taken are 30 students from class X OT 3.
The Preposition of place errors were classified into four groups. They were errors in Preposition of place, preposition errors in using at for a point, preposition errors in using in for an enclosed space, preposition errors in using on for a surface.
From the result in chapter IV the writer can conclude that the total of students made 355 errors of Preposition of place which were classified into 86 errors in producing preposition of place, 55 errors in using at for a point, 92 errors in using in for an enclosed space, 122 errors in the use on for a surface .
From the result the writer can conclude that the possible causes of errors are overgeneralization and the students have not mastered the use preposition of place. We can see it from the number of the errors made. It is suggested that the students still need more practices dealing with Preposition since they were the basic knowledge needed for understanding and Composing Recount Text within using Preposition of Place.
